DAKAR, Senegal (AP) — U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Saturday cautioned a shadowy Russian organization with connections for the Kremlin not to ever interfere in attempts aimed at repairing democracy from inside the western African country of Mali.
As he wrapped up a weeklong, three-nation tour of Africa which was controlled by crises throughout the region, Blinken stated it will be “unfortunate” in the event the Wagner Group became energetic in Mali, in which you will find worldwide supported intentions to bring a democratically chosen government set up by April.
Mali “remains a linchpin for potential balance inside Sahel and then we need deep issues about that reliability and strong concerns about the extremism and terrorism that will be dispersing tentacles in your community,” Blinken mentioned at development discussion with Senegal’s foreign minister, Aissata high Sall.
