MED prof’s finding comes as Supreme legal weighs same-sex marriage

Whenever great Court took up the challenge of gay relationships finally thirty days, Justice Antonin Scalia claimed that professionals debate whether same-sex parents are harmful to children.

“There’s significant disagreement among sociologists about what the effects become of raising a child in a…single-sex parents, whether which damaging to the kid or not,” Scalia announced.

Siegel, a college of Medicine professor of pediatrics, coauthored a written report, printed from the United states Academy of Pediatrics the month ahead of the courtroom case, arguing that three years of investigation agree totally that youngsters of homosexual mothers are trying to do perfectly.

“Many research has confirmed that children’s wellbeing is actually impacted much more by their unique relations along with their mothers, her moms and dads’ sense of competence and security, as well as the existence of social and economic assistance when it comes to household than of the gender or even the intimate direction of these moms and dads,” Siegel produces with coauthor Ellen Perrin, a Tufts University teacher of pediatrics and director of developmental and behavioral pediatrics.
